The Merit Brass reducing coupling is a class 150 stainless steel 304 cast pipe fitting with female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on both ends for connecting male pipes. This reducing coupling has one end that is smaller than the other for connecting different sizes of pipes going in the same direction. It has NPT threads for creating tighter seals than straight threads and is made of stainless steel 304 for higher corrosion resistance than 302 grade steel. This class 150 reducing coupling meets standards ANSI B1.20.1 and ISO 49 for quality assurance. Class is a standard relating to tolerance, construction, dimension, and wall thickness, but it is not a direct measurement of maximum working pressure.

I was looking for a pressure rated bell reducer for a compressed air application. This worked great. Clean threads. Seems well made. Very satisfied. Bought three Merit Brass stainless fittings and all were excellent quality.

Nice SS fitting. These cost about what Galvanized fittings cost at the local home center, but these will last longer, and won't corrode when mated with copper/brass fittings like galvanized will. If you can plan your plumbing project well enough to order components online... you have my serious respect.

Works great. SS means it won't rust, and you can bring it up to high temperatures without worrying about galvie flu. Hasn't deteriorated any, while my black iron cap exposed to the same conditions has rusted substantially.

It fits. What more can you ask for. Build solid. Certainly won't pop off like a cheap pvc reducer.

This is exactly what I need to hook up air compressor hose to lawn sprinkler blow out pipe. I originally bought 4 brass fittings at Lowes to do the same thing, that is over $30. This is $3 and much better! I was surprised to find out Amazon even sells these small hardware pieces now.
