Awesome set in a fantastic case!! I’m super stoked about this brush set and can say I’ve noticed considerable improvements to speed and base resilience since incorporating it into my waxing rig, and I am far from an expert. Would definitely agree all three brushes will give even a beginner at waxing noticeable results and expect that even experts will find value in the purchase.I started brushing with a paint scraper, a nylon utility brush, and a set of Scrub Daddy sponge & scrub combos before this set came in. Prior to brushing, I tried just applying wax with the iron; what I noticed is I failed to get an even coat and both early attempts resulted in thick patches of wax that didn’t soak into the base very well, flaked and chipped off, leaving either huge, jagged chunks or “cracked glass” patches of crappy wax that I could literally feel in the board.Not casting shade on iron-only techniques—I know some folks are very skilled at this and don’t question its efficacy, but for a beginner? Less than impressive.These brushes really helped me get a thin, even coat that is smooth, refined and consistent. It feels a whole lot better on lots of different types of snow and they have just enough space between the bristles to experiment with very unique grain patterns. The bristles are equally-spaced in a gridlike array, so rotating any of the brushes in relation to the direction of pull gives you noticeably different grain patterns, and the scalloped edges of the block make it easy to use feathering motions to make the pattern your own.My waxes last longer now, feel smoother and carry me faster than before, all fantastic things. Snowboarding isn’t *quite* the workout it was before this brush set, which I’m kind of bittersweet about but at least I’m not falling and pedaling so much.I would like to see a slash pocket on the super awesome new case for keeping notes or any reference material, if at all possible, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I would also like to see maybe a slightly taller block to accommodate big hands, but again, these are plenty serviceable as-is.An oval set or longer block option would be a fantastic timesaver for us snowboarders, but again—very serviceable as-is. Perfect size for skis, you might even be slightly disappointed by how quickly you can get yours ready with this set.On that note: It’s also suuuper easy to get really granular and spend way too much time touching your board or skis with the level of detail you can put into your structure.
