How it works

Get The Grill Hot - to start the grooving process, ensure your grill is hot (high heat allows the grooves to form quickly).

Work Back and Forth - Using slow firm pressure, pass the Great Scrape front to back on the hot grates.

Repeat - align the previously formed grooves to the grates ensuring that only ONE good set of grooves are formed. Once grooves have formed high heat is no longer necessary.

This does a good job and getting 90% off my grill grates (Weber spirit) but it has an issue with any areas where vertical and horizontal grates cross each other. It can’t really clean those areas well. I still need a wire brush alongside this to feel like my grill is clean. It’s unfortunate because the main reason to have this is avoid the wire brush.

I recently bought a Pit Boss griddle grill. It has a ceramic griddle top and can not be scratched, otherwise, the griddle gets damaged. It will get scratched by using metal utensils. So I found this wooden scraper. The ceramic griddle is super easy to clean . This will make it even easier.It's just the right size. Very sturdy. They say that you can customize the edge to accommodate the grates on a regular grill with the straight edge on the scraper. I on the other hand want the straight edge for the flat top griddle. This is going to work perfectly. And it's made in America.

So glad to have seen th is BBQ product listed on NYTimes Best Gifts List! Have watched BBQ bristle tools flake off metal strands on grill for years. This is a great and safe alternative tool!Purchased for Christmas gifting - this will come to great use and last a good number of years. Wood is strong and cut thick, and the handle is perfectly shaped, comfortably fitting large hand for use. I am going to order the smaller size to take in summer for my camping grill! Highly recommend this product

Was a little skeptical but completely happy about the scraper. Primary reason we switched from bristle brushes to a scraper is that we have a grill without doors to keep the dogs from licking the drip funnel. So even after we remove the drip tray, they still get in there from time to time. We discovered one had what looked like a wire bristle lodged in her stomach. Suspecting it came from licking either the brush or the funnel, the bristle brushes had to go. Not only now its safer for the dogs in case they lick the grill (which we do our best to keep them away but food driven dogs are persistent), the scraper does an excellent job cleaning the grates. It conforms to your grate design so there is always good contact.

I love the idea behind this product, but for me it left bits of wood on the grill. Maybe it's user error?

I still think I will need to scrub the grates in the sink every onc in awhile but it works quite well and I like knowing that it is safe.
