Installation Instructions
- Before starting the installation, make sure to shut off the water supply valve and disconnect the power.
- Carefully inspect the valve assembly to ensure there are no damaged or missing components.
- Remove the old bypass valve assembly from the water softener. You may need to use a wrench or pliers to loosen the connections.
- Insert the new bypass valve assembly into the water softener, ensuring a secure and tight connection.
- Connect the inlet pipe to the inlet of the bypass valve assembly. Make sure there are no leaks at the connection point.
- Connect the outlet pipe to the outlet of the bypass valve assembly. Again, ensure there are no leaks at the connection point.
- Check all connection points to ensure they are tightened and secure.
- Open the water supply valve and check for any leaks.
- Connect the power supply and ensure the bypass valve assembly is functioning properly.
If your existing bypass valve does not have the 9/16 inch gap as shown in the picture below, then you will need a larger size bypass valve component.
This bypass valve is not suitable.
As shown in the picture above, this component can only work when your valve has 5 screws securing the valve cover. If your valve has 8 screws, then this component is not suitable for your water softener model!

Sofner was leaking near the connections. Replaced the plastic bypass thinking it was the culprit, no luck it kept leaking. I then replaced the rubber “O” rings, thinking we’ll be good. Kept leaking, I bought these as my last ditch effort before I trash it and sure enough it stopped the leak. There must of been a hairline crack in the plastic that I couldn’t see. Thank goodness. I had another WS in my cart ready to go.

This fit perfect on our water softener- they even threw in plumbing tape and extras! Had a mangled plastic valve on our softener trying to get a supply line to it and needed this part. No local stores had it but Amazon did and it came fast next day (on a Saturday)! So happy to have soft water again and get the exact thing we needed-🙏🏼 our water softener is a somewhat older kenmore model

It took 2 weeks to get here after order was placed with Prime. Mine came with clips and the pipes, but no O rings. No silicon or plumbers tape, either. The copper flex pipes to my old Morton MSD27B water softener are shot and slowly leaking and were somehow fused on to the old pipes. I couldn't get them off without the risk of breaking them. Needed new flex hoses and these. Glad it wasn't an emergency. I'll try re-using the old o rings, otherwise it's off to the hardware store.

O-rings are depicted in the photos however the parts I received did not come with O-rings. Will be returning and awaiting new shipment.
