Recently purchased a set of the hard rubber protectors and soon discovered why a magnetic version would be much better. Trying to hold the rubber ones in place and at the same time working the floor jack was a real pain . The metal pinch weld protectors with the installed magnets solves everthing. Very pleased with the quality and price. If protecting the pinch weld is important to you look no further .

As far as what they're made for, they work perfectly. They'll straddle the pinch weld and make jacking your car up a simple task.I have, on more than one occasion, left these on by mistake and gone to test drive the car after changing oil/changing tires/etc. Amazingly enough, they were both still on the car when I got back!

The 2010 Corolla has an uneven base on the flange. It still works fine. The magnet really helps to align the Jack pad to a jack stand.
