Newly engineered SpeedFoam Air is 69% lighter than its predecessor. It provides up to 3.5g of weight savings that have been redistributed to further optimize mass properties for better launch conditions. The new formulation delivers a sweet sound, and solid feel while delivering a fast, flexible face.
THIN WALL CONSTRUCTION
A new 8620 carbon steel construction makes the head thinner by up to 37.5% in strategic locations, allowing for a significantly lower CG placement.
FORGED L-FACE
The new thin-walled design pairs with a responsive 1.5mm forged 4140 steel L-Face to promote supreme flexibility, fast ball speeds and distance while upholding a premium forged feel.
TUNGSTEN MASS FOR LOW CG
Engineers developed new construction methods to thin out the body, allowing for up to 31g of tungsten to be placed in the toe. It creates a massive amount of stability and forgiveness wrapped in a players package.
THRU-SLOT SPEED POCKET
The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket provides increased face flexibility while preserving ball speed and distance on low face strikes.
INTELLIGENT SWEET SPOT
The sweet spot has been increased by up to 60% compared to the original P790. Using data analytics we have repositioned the sweet spot lower on the face to naturally capture more shots and provide performance where golfers need it most.

The "face slot" technology on Taylormade irons is garbage. The face slot WILL collapse. Guaranteed. The warranty is for 2 years and Taylormade will try to avoid it by saying it was your fault. Unless you are a golfer who believes buying new clubs every two years will improve your game avoid Taylormade irons like the plague. It is a scam. And for God's sake don't buy used unless you can get the set for like $50.

Disregard bad reviews on these clubs. They are perhaps the worlds best irons and have be through 3 generations. I would say they are not for the highest handicap golfer. Take your time and watch some quality reviews on YouTube and then make your decision and more importantly, hit them before you buy. There is a return option through Amazon which is always a great thing.

I have been playing with the P790 irons for 18 months and love them. However I have noticed excessive club face wear on my most used clubs, 7, 8,9, and wedges? Anyone else having this problem?My view is based on using a set of Pings for 13 years same weekly amount of play with little face wear.
