It appears handmade, but well constructed. Did notice an odor of a wood paint stain when opening, however gave it a good soap and water wash and all should be o.k.Looking forward to using it soon. Guess I need to figure out a few weights for the press. Time to hit the second hand store! for some used lifting weights. Water is 8.34 pounds per gallon, but if you need more that 17 pounds there may not be enough room for additional weights of any size.

Overall looks good. The problem is the supplied cheese molds. They are tiny, tiny, tiny.Making cheese means using 3-5 gallons of milk /batch. The supplied molds are not capable to hold that amount of curd. Real problem is handling a reasonable amount of cheese using the supplied molds

I have only one hand and the cheese press was very easy to put together and use. I have made 2 pounds of cheese in it and am fixing to make a third batch. I had to buy some weights to put on top of the press to weigh it down. But I love the simplicity of the cheese press and it is very easy to clean. I have been thinking about buying a second press because family and friends want some of the cheese. All they have to do is supply the milk.
