I received a gift of a piece of trapezoidal amber with insect inclusions, and this versatile stand made it simple to display in a well-lit location for maximum visibility. Because of the unevenly rounded edges of the fossil, I used a tiny drop of glue on the caliper arms pads to steady the amber, but it's very sturdy now.

Love this specimen stand! It's so pretty, and reasonably priced. I'm using to to display a piece of selenite we collected. I will mention, the finials on the end of each rod are threaded and will screw off themselves. That was unexpected and made creating the right tension to hold the stone a little tricky. But once I figured that part out everything worked great!

Looks like better quality in the photos but it’s cheaply made. The soft pads don’t do anything. They got squeezed in when inserting my sphere. One of the twist caps came loose when trying to tighten the arms on to the sphere. Not worth the $15 in my opinion. This isn’t heavy either so I don’t know how well it would do with a specimen that’s more than a couple of ounces.

Smaller than I imagined and took a little bit of moving around and adjusting the piece but it’s holding very nice and not leaning.

This caliper stand is great! The only semi-negative I can think of is the functionality of the little foam pads that protect the rock from the metal caliper stand. The foam is not thick or sturdy enough to hold the rock and keep the metal from scraping the rock. This stand is a super cool looking way to display a favorite crystal.
