A great old fashioned simple fire log turner. A neat suprise is that it "collapses" down. You pull the handles out like you're trying to open and it "smashes" down horizontally - the handles come down to meet the part that touches the log and the "knees" spread outwards. I liked it because it made storage nice. It works just great. Not the most heavy duty item but works great for turning logs on a fire.

Seems like it's made ok. Just not long enough for an outside fire. Wanted it to be about 12" longer. Probably my fault.

This item is great...remember it is 26" long...I purchased it to turn logs in my new fire pit outside...it is absolutely perfect for that...I had started out to buy fireplace tools (3-4 different tools) but thought why should I pay extra $$$ when all I need are the tongs...this was a lot cheaper...thought I would take one of my hooks that I use to hang up flower hanging baskets as it has the hook, it is flat black, and it stands just tall enough so that the tongs won't drag the ground...this item is highly recommended!!!

As others have noted, these are not the most heavy-duty tongs available. On the other hand they are some of the least expensive, so it comes down to paying more or getting what you paid for. What is not noted by other reviews is that they are only 26" long, slightly shorter than a typical fireplace tool. Less length means the weight of a log is less likely to bend the tongs, simple physics. These would not be appropriate for lifting or carrying large logs but are entirely suitable for rearranging the logs of the size someone would use in a home fireplace or outdoor fire pit. They also work well with the typical bundled firewood sold at most campsites. An added bonus is that they fold up to just over a foot long which makes them great to take along on camping trips.If you don't have expectations that these are meant for heavy-duty applications you should find them a good value for the price.

I bought these tongs to use in the firebox on my offset smoker as a poker as well as tongs. They work flawlessly for this purpose and would I recommend them. They have worked great to pick up and break up small coals, sticks and logs as I have needed. They feel a little flimsy with logs, as I use some split logs measuring a foot or more long, but it does the job. They also do fold up nicely for storage which brings the 26" tongs down to a little under 17". Good buy.

I purchased these tongs for our RV. We camp one week each month and have frequent fires despite the summer heat! LOL! The tongs fold in half which is handy for storage in the basement of our RV and are strong enough to move large logs around in our campfires. Exactly the tool I needed and wanted. No more singed fingers or using other pieces of wood to move logs around in an active fire. Could not find tongs locally because they are "out of season." The shipment arrived as promised. I am a happy camper!

I used this for the first time last night for a smaller campfire in an iron fire pit.It works better with two hand instead of pinching them with one because the metal is softer and thin which could cause parts of it to bend, such as the handles.I was moving and putting down 1/2 and 1/4 logs, typical sizes of firewood you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes. It does the job though. I mainly need it to work the fire and move logs around once they are in the fire, or set new logs on top after the fire gets really not. While this is not the best item on the market, it is the cheapest I've seen on amazon and for the small tasks that I described it seems to get the job done. You have to be smart with how much weight you put on it. If you don't want to worry about that or be conscious of that while you are using it, upgrade to something more sturdy, otherwise this will probably work for you.
