A friend of mine had given me the body of a gutted Hondo H1 Deathdagger as a rebuild project for myself. So long story short, I had completely rebuilt the guitar but then realized I had no where to truly store it. Since the Hondo brand is essentially defunked, the odds of getting a proper case for it is very small...and because of it's assymetrical shape, a standard guitar stand wouldn't be an option neither. So, looking for stands I came across this one as well as the hercules. In the end I decided on this one.The main deciding factor was initally was the price, admittedly. Is the Hercules a good stand? Certainly...but upon arrival, I found that this stand is also a surprisingly effective stand, too. My main fear when looking at the product picture, was if the stand would be as flimsy as those really cheap music stands (which was my first thought when I saw the picture). When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this stand is much more durable and thicker than I thought it would be. Not only that, but I was able to fit my guitar on it with ease and confidence. Just to test it's balance, I even set the stand to its highest height to see if it would stay in place...and it did. I am also appreciative of it's less bulky build (over the hercules). Here are some photos.Photos included:1. A photo of the stand holding the guitar at what I consider a "normal" height. It's next to the drums to give you a height reference.2. Close up of where the grip and the headstock meet.3. Point where the guitar meets the foam cushion on the legs.4. Guitar stand raised to its highest point next to an upright piano for height reference. Again, I did try to hold my guitar that high, and it did not fall over whatsoever.

I purchased a Hercules GS414B Guitar Stand for my banjos a few weeks ago based upon advice found in the BHO forums. While the Hercules stand is, by far, the strongest most stable tripod based stand I have ever seen after using it for a few days I noticed that the weight of my banjos was resting on the tuning machines when hung in the Hercules stand and I didn't like that. So after digging through the BHO forums again I decided to try a Hamilton Hanging Guitar stand. Both of my banjos (open backs) are quite fond of the Hamilton stand. They feel safe and secure while hanging in it. I like it a lot too. It is a very nice looking, seemingly well constructed stand and my banjos fit in it just as snug as a bug. This Hamilton stand is, IMO, just about as good as it gets when it comes to banjo stands.Update: I liked my first Hamilton Hanging Guitar Stand I bought a second one. Great stands. A solid investment.

These are my favorite guitar stands. I own two. This one needed a little wd40 when it arrived as the tripod part was difficult to open. But it opens nicely now.I love the height adjustments and the rubber bits on the bottom, knowing my guitar is safe. Very sturdy and looks great on stage. Folds up nicely and easy to toss in a mic stand bag.

The Hamilton neck hanger stand is the best on the market. Fully adjustable to fit literally any guitar or bass. Best for odd bodied instruments like the Thunderbird or anything made by BC Rich or clones of that brand. Flying V and Dimebag Dean style guitars too. Rock solid stability. Worth every penny.

Hamilton stands are by far, the best guitar stand available. I have some from the '80's that still function. The foam/rubber has come off but the stands still work. These new ones though, are not quite as durable. The joints tend to slip. I can't tighten the knob enough to keep it from slipping down.I have probably 15 Hamilton stands. The older ones seems to be superior. But even with this issue, they're better than any other stand I've used.UPDATE: I've contacted Hamilton twice now about the joints slipping. SO far, I've been ignored. I began to notice some damage to my instruments around the headstock, where the y hang on the stands. The foam has cut & the instruments where hanging on steel. It's dug into the finish quite significantly on a few of my precious instruments. The stage is a reasonably dark area, so I didn't noticed it right away. I'm beyond disappointed in these 2 Hamilton stands. And the customer service has been equally disappointing.UPDATE #2: Hamilton has not responded. I've been buying Hamilton guitar stands since the late 1990's. Short of drilling a hole in the tubes & run a screw through the middle, I can't do anything about the stands collapsing with weight of the guitar. I was able to locate some black neoprene tubing to replace the foam on the hanger section. It looks EXACTLY like the stuff they used on the older stands I have that are actually of high quality.I'll use these stands around the house. I've order Ultimate Stands GS-1000 as my on stage guitar stands. They aren't quite as heavy duty as the Hamilton but I'll bet they don't collapse or destroy my instruments. I'm so disappointed. It's just awful what's happened to a once great manufacturer.

If you have a 6 string bass the headstock holder may be a bit tight, but for guitars or basses up to 5 string it does very well. We've used these stands at church for years, and when I needed one for myself this was my first choice. In addition to working well, it folds very small so it fits nicely in my equipment back with everything else. Some of the other stands in this category that work well have a much larger circumference when folded, which wasn't ideal for me.
