How it Works
When your mitt is in the water, the fibers are relaxed. When you rub your mitt against Grit Guard in the water, the relaxed fibers allow the Grit Guard Insert to extract the dirt, grit and grime.
2x The Protection
The best method for extracting harmful dirt and grit from your wash mitt or brush is to agitate your washing utensil while submerged in water. For added protection many of our customers opt for 2 Grit Guard inserts. An optional washboard further aids in the cleaning brushes and mitts.

For the ultimate protection we recommend a dual-bucket wash and rinse system. Some of our customers opt for a third "wheels" bucket as well to keep the nastiest grim away from your cars finish.

Settle & Separate The Dirt
Once dirt settles in the bottom of the bucket, the Grit Guard keeps it there by separating the wash water into four quadrants, so the water cannot be disturbed. Also works amazingly well on tile grouting!

I use these for my detailing business and love them. Found them on Amazon cheaper than anywhere else and to be honest I was kind of expecting them to be fairly cheap. I was wrong! They are sturdily build, and fit perfectly into the bucket. They are very easy to remove because of the thumb holes. They fit snug enough when you dump your bucket out, they stay in, but are easy to pull out with very little effort

Let me just put it this way, I wish they were cheaper so I could buy a dozen! I would not only use them for car washing but in my home dusting cloth (to swish around my wet dusting micro fiber cloth) and also to place at the floor of my shower stall. I would then place large shampoo bottles on this so that the floor underneath the bottle dries, or you can place anything else that you need to drip dry in the tub or shower. But as for hand washing a car, I don't know how I ever got along without one of these, its a simple and relatively inexpensive way to keep the heavy dirt and grime from being reabsorbed into your cloth.

Never thought I would actually like this because I always thought I could build something like it at home. For 10$,what the hey, Amazon makes it too easy so I ordered. I use the three bucket system. 1 for shampoo, 1 for rinse, 1 for wheels. I have a grit guard in each and pulls gunk all the time. Doesn't touch bottom of a Home Depot bucket but who the heck is going to pay chemical guys price for a bucket if hd is 3$. Works perfect in a pep boys bucket.

Not sure why people are saying this doesn’t fit the new buckets from Lowe’s. Maybe those reviews aren’t talking about their 5-gallon buckets.In any case, I’d recommend taking the grit guards to your home improvement store of choice, and actually testing the fit.I can vouch for Lowe’s 5-GALLON (!!) buckets—the guards fit snugly into the buckets and don’t move even while being knocked around during a wash!Great product at a fair price compared to the alternatives on Amazon.

I ordered and recieved this in less than a week ( normal shipping).It works wonderfully. I never used 2 buckets to wash my cars before. Now that I have...., and see the results= I will always use 2 buckets.Tried the Lowes blue bucket ( cheaper). Only got halfway down. Not very good for a wash bucket but as a rinse bucket it works well for that. Tried a Home Depot Homer ( orange) bucket. Got to about 1 to 2 inches from the bottom= perfect for the soap bucket.After the first wash, I could see the difference in the way my vehicle looked, but the water had a lot of sediment. Just think how much of that would have been left on the vehicle without it.Worth the money. Especially since its a 2 pack= good to go.

It's a pretty simple, but amazing device. Keeps grit off your mitt, as it should. Sturdy plastic, and fits perfectly in a Home Depot orange bucket. If you don't have any of these, I'd recommend them if you're really obsessive about the health of your cars paint.

Excellent product for car washing. I couldn't believe how much dirt was trapped the bottom of the bucket after washing my Van. Keeps the micro fiber cloths cleaner. Paint was much cleaner after the wash too.

Not much to write on a plastic insert, it does what it was designed to do.The price on amazon was much better then many other locations on this item.
