About this item

  • Autosense technology - this exclusive feature calculates how much salt and water is required to regenerate the system and only uses what is necessary, resulting in a significant reduction in salt and water usage
  • Eco pure EP42 is ideal for households of 1 to 6 plus people and removes high levels of water hardness and clear water (ferrous) iron
  • NSF certified to reduce hard water symptoms such as embarrassing stains, buildup on your Plumbing and Faucets, spotting on dishes, and helps your water using appliances last longer and operate more efficiently

Solving hard water doesn't have to be difficult, time consuming or expensive. Our softeners simplify getting the water you need for softer hair and skin, cleaner, brighter towels and longer-lasting appliances. The Eco pure 42, 000 grain water softener is ideal for families of 1-6+ people looking for a reliable way to soften their water. It eliminates embarrassing mineral stains, uses less detergent in the wash for cleaner, brighter and softer fabrics, and helps your water-using appliances last longer by allowing them to run more efficiently. Soft water also helps to keep your hair and skin feel healthy and soft. Eco Pure water softeners employ demand initiated regeneration meaning the system will only regenerate based on your hardness level and how much water you actually use, this results in significant salt and water savings. It will not waste water by regenerating (like competitor models) while you are on vacation and you will not run out of soft water if you use more water than usual. Eco Pure water softeners also come with simple to program electronics and include a low salt indicator light and work on city water or well water. Over time, water softeners also keep your water using appliances (water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, etc. ) working efficiently, last longer and save energy. All Eco Pure water softeners come standard with a 1-year manufacturers parts and labor , 3-year limited electronics , and 10-year limited on the tanks. The full parts and labor can be extended to 2 years with the purchase of 3 bottles of Eco Pure EPCL water softener cleaner within the first year of ownership (sold separately). All systems include installation kit, bypass valve and come ready to connect to 1 inch male pipe thread.
NOTE: Due to variances in production and assembly, the water softener valve height may vary by up to 1/2" from an existing water treatment system, including existing EcoPure models. This potential change in valve height will not affect system performance. Product color may vary from photo color.

I had a Sears made by Ecopure water softener for 20 years. I brought this as the replacement for five people in the house. I cut out the old one, and put in the new one. I used a cutting wheel to cut my old 1 inch adaptors out because this new one was not a direct fit for the Sears one. It was close but the new control water valve is a half inch off center with the old one. I used the new control valve shipped with the unit. I used snap on water lines to my 3/4 inch water lines and the other end, the female 1 inch connecters screwed on and were tightened with a wrench. I was surprised at how tight I had to make the connection to make it leak-free. I had to tighten all the way down, so much so I was thinking there was something wrong but it was water-tight. This unit's brine discharge is a half-inch barb. The old one had a garden hose male screw on plug. I put on the half-inch line supplied with the unit, added a clamp, and then connected the other end to a male barb on the back of a garden hose female connector I got at a big box store. I brass-barreled this to an existing garden hose I had in place from the old unit. The hose goes through a small drilled out hole in my foundation to outside and into a curtain drain so the brine discharge goes through the drain and out about 200 feet from the house and not into a cement septic tank as salt + cement=trouble down the road. I plugged the unit it, added salt, regenerated, and everything was fine. No leaks, no problems. This was so easy to install. I like the digital screen. The reason I got this unit was because it so closely resembled my old one. I already knew how to operate it. It would have been nice to just slide it into the old connector but then again who wants to trust a 20 year old water softener valve? Best to go all new. Plumbing was a breeze. Plug and play. Time will tell how this unit does service-wise but I am confident in the Ecopure name. So far, so good and the water is soft again.

Very happy with our purchase so far. The control panel on our 19-year-old Kenmore water softener had been acting up for some time. It wouldn't cycle automatically and we'd have to remember to manually start a cycle every few days, until finally it wouldn't even do that. I chose this model as they were the manufacturer of our Kenmore, and measurements I found on the Eco-Pure web site told me that the dimensions of the connecting pipes should be the same as our old model. That turned out to be correct and I was able to install the new softener myself without difficulty. As it turns out though we had to call a plumber anyway, because one of our old shut-off valves was jammed from lime and corrosion and had to be replaced. Once the plumber left, I plugged the new softener in, added salt and we were back in business.I used the occasion to drain the water heater too, which is something that should be done periodically that I have neglected to do. By doing this now though we got soft water immediately after the softener completed its first cycle, rather than having to wait for the hard water to work its way out of the water heater.Programming is nearly the same as what we were used to with the Kenmore, with a few extra bells and whistles like salt level. If you're familiar with programming a Kenmore water softener, this will be immediately familiar to you.The unit arrived undamaged, though the wingnut and screw that hold the float casing in place had worked loose during transport and were found in the bottom of the carton. By looking at my old softener I could see where they were supposed to go and all was fine once reattached.

The unit I received looked nothing like the displayed photo. Also, I bought this unit after some extensive dimensional research in hopes of swapping out my old Sears water softener. All dimensions were spot on except for the 1/2" in width shorter bypass valve of the unit. It now requires a re-plumbing to get it connected

I don't know how well this softener works because it arrived damaged TWICE. The first time the box was mauled and the product exposed. The 2nd time, the upper controls and valve were in pieces with parts missing. After 2 tries of receiving this softener in working order, I figured a 3rd time would not be charm.

The product arrived quickly and was packed securely. The unit looks identical to the Kenmore 420 I was replacing and had hoped the old bypass valve would match up without reworking the plumbing. But it is completely different--the in/out are on opposite sides and spaced differently. Once the piping was moved around it was easy to get started and is working fine.

We had the prior EP 42 model. replace it with this newer model, it came with out the bottom of the box. it was gone and delivered the unit upside down. After install, the tank was filling with too much water even though I could drain it using the brine function. never got to figure this out as the unit was leaking from the inlet connection. replace the o-rings and still leaked. the valve head is either cracked or out of round. Returned..

Great drop-in replacement for my old Kenmore softener. I had screwed fitting on flex hoses so installation was a breeze.
