Improve performance with DEI Exhaust Wrap. Wrapping headers and down pipes is an important first step in controlling unwanted under-hood radiant heat. Keeping exhaust gases hotter within the exhaust system helps in decreasing exhaust density and increases exhaust flow. This improves exhaust scavenging resulting in cooler air intake temperatures for an improvement in performance and a gain in horsepower. Design Engineering stainless steel Locking Ties (sold separately) are the perfect way to fasten exhaust wrap for a easy, clean and professional installation. Design Engineering Hi-Temp Silicone Coating Spray (sold separately) is highly recommended for DEI glass fiber wrap to penetrate, seal, protect and prolong the lifespan of exhaust wrap. Note about Titanium Exhaust Systems: DEI does NOT recommend wrapping Titanium exhausts. The alloys used in the production of titanium exhaust systems tend to be thin and are designed to dissipate heat quickly. By wrapping the exhaust, the additional heat can make the titanium alloy turn brittle and prone to premature cracking. DEI recommends using alternatives such as their flexible heat shields when seeking to reduce the heat on titanium exhaust systems.

This was ordered for a whole-house propane run generator (Winco/ONAN 25kw). The original 14year old wrapping was falling off and I could see red glowing pipes. I found out all exhaust pipes glow and people rarely know it, but the wrapping is important to keep the internal heat up for better combustion and the external intense heat localized to not fry other things (vacuum lines, hydrolics, wires, etc.). Head tempertures run about 700-900 degrees F so it is best to wrap them. This is fiberglass so you SHOULD wear a mask, goggles, and gloves. It has been so hot here I did not use gloves and did not notice and fiberglass in my hands like with house insullation. You are not supposed to soak it in water, like the old asbestos type. The instructions recommend wrapping every 1/4 width but I was told half is normal (I bought 2" x 15' and used 2 1/2 rolls). It needs to be started so use a stainless steel tie (I bought them from the same company on Amazon). They are much like SS zip ties and are also great; 8 pack) or it will keep unwrapping as you pull. Wrap it firmly but you will not be able to get it tight until you wrap the next half over the first. Be aware this smokes a lot when you first heat it (start the engine); if it is in a ventilated generator room/shed, you cannot breath and it will look like the shed is on fire with all of the smoke. It just heats off the chemicals on the wrap. Overall, it was a tricky, time-consuming, but a successful project. I think these pipes were factory wrapped and installed later in the process as they did too neat of a job and covered it in places blocked by other objects for me (like mounting bolts and cooling fins). Seems to work well. The old wrap was brittle and falling off. It was past time, but, I rarely open the sides to see it in action. Take the time to do it right, and, check your pipes regurlarly for need. Hope this helps someone.

Got this to wrap the exhaust on my Harley. The only two things I can say that I didn't like is that the ends fray VERY easily, and when you wet it, all kindsa metal and crap comes out.Otherwise, it's very tough, and looks great wrapped on the bike.Be cautious, the description says fifty feet, but you have to look in the title of the product to see (mine was only fifteen feet). Seems like they cut and pasted the description from the fifty foot one.

I don't give 5 stars often, but this product deserves it! My exhaust had cracked in half and was quoted a repair to be around $300. With this product and 20 mins of my own time I saved myself three Benji's! Very simple to put on and it's held my exhaust together for many months now. Definitely the product for you if you have a similar problem with your exhaust!

Work perfect. I bought two rolls and wrapped my motorcycle headers. Have not had any issues. When they were first installed, they smoked a significant amount once the exhaust got to operating temperature. Figured it was normal. Smoke went away after a few minutes. I recommend soaking the wraps in water and installing while wet and use gloves. I made the mistake of going in raw and my hands were full of little tiny pricks. I very much recommend this item to everyone.

I used this to wrap my muffler because the stock paint on my muffler just flaked off and I had rust all over. I tried painting and the paint, even though it was high temp paint, still flaked off. So, this was my solution and it worked out perfectly. Just make sure you purchase enough. I had to use 2 rolls of the 2" wrap to cover my whole muffler and its for a small classic Beetle.

products quality ok but not 100% as expected. I put the tape as explained and the color is going away. started black now it's light grey. As for the heat protector I dont know if it really cuts the heat 50% cause I still feel quite a bit of heat coming from the exhaust system...as for the look it looks great...

I was looking for some exhaust wrap for my motorcycle. I purchased it with an aftermarket exhaust system that is burning through the belly pan fairing. Of course, it being a 2-cylinder motorcycle, I didn't need that much wrap, as opposed to a V8 car or similar. I liked the price a lot, and the brand seemed very reputable. This brand is sold by very popular aftermarket parts websites such as Jegs, for a much higher price. I get it in the mail, and open it up. I get the exhaust wrap out of the packaging, and it's just...that. It's only the wrap and an instructions card that says "Don't Forget The Locking Ties! #010201 &..."Well...what the heck?? It seems like a quality product, but how am I supposed to use it if they don't supply everything needed? I read other reviews and got the impression that ties were included, but not enough of them. I wouldn't have had a problem if it was clearly noted. Maybe I should have read more, but it's a bit unfair. I'll just end up using some stainless steel hose clamps from my local auto store. I'm not going to spend another ~$10 plus waiting on shipping for some stupid metal zip-ties.Anyway...The exhaust wrap kinda looks like a belt from my karate class. I was surprised at how easily it cut with scissors! Cuts like paper.
