Choosing the Right Size Kennel
Measure Your Dog Standing
- A dog needs to be able to stand up and turn around in a kennel. That’s the most basic definition of the right size kennel for a dog.
- For the length of the dog, measure nose to tail. Add 2 inches for smaller breeds, 4 inches for average breeds, and 6 inches for very large breeds.
- For the height, we advise that you measure a dog standing, from the floor to the top of their ears. The clearance above the dog’s ears needs only be about an inch.
What If My Dog is a Puppy?
Crate training is an important time for puppies and the size of the kennel will be critical to success. Rather than buying smaller kennels and sizing up as the dog ages, Dakota 283 uses our Forever Inserts that allow you to adjust the interior size of the kennel until the dog grows into the kennel. We offer this cost-saving product in our medium, large, and extra-large G3 kennels.

In our research lab at the Rat Penitentiary we have created a Mega Rat. The Alpha Nutrius Colossus has grown to 130 lbs and is 28” at the shoulders. He is also extremely aggressive as prescribed. We are working on ten more now in our basement laboratory. Look out neighbors - ha ha ha! Obviously, our normal cells will not accommodate a Mega Rat. So this sturdy carrier is perfect. We have created a remote door opener for it as well. They are grand!

Got the XL. Fit’s in my 2023 Honda Pilot with the 3rd row down. My 8 months 70lbs GSD likes it and still has room to grow. Very sturdy. Not too heavy to move it in and out of the vehicle.

My dog scratched his old crate until his nails fell out and the bars bent, this one is much better. Came set up which is nice and heavy

The crate itself is marvelous, well built and sturdy. Unfortunately, it is so huge and solid I can't see out the back window of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I know it may sound odd, but I like to see out the back of my car. What I didn't realize, nor was it written anywhere, this is a third party purchase, so they are making the return as miserable as possible. I have to pay for the return myself! Which by the way cost as equally as the product itself!!!!!!! Furious!!!!!!! Amazon better figure this out bc, this is bollocks!!!!!!!! to be more precise, Amazon better find away to get the money I spent on returning it back!

I haven't used this but for one dog, I'll update it after a few uses but it was a quick delivery, i love how it looks and how sturdy it is.

This is one of the best crates on the market if not the best. It’s an amazing design, all one piece, no assembly required. FedEx actually delivered this in 2 days as advertised! That was truly the amazing thing! I would buy again if I needed another one.
