Carpenter CF50 Brad Nailer is well made. It arrived with safety glasses, 2 Allen wrenches, and a detailed instruction booklet. The body is metal but not too heavy for this skinny chick. The nail slide is plastic and has a quick release trigger for reloading. All you need is the recommended nail strips, a compressor with at least 90 PSI, and a quick connect adapter. There is a single action trigger that is very much point and shoot. The nail will not shoot if the front bumper is not pressed to prevent accidental shots. With the trigger pulled, you can switch to rapid fire, which shoots a nail every time you hit the bumper on the board while holding the trigger down. A handy feature to speed up a big job. The nail depth can be adjusted as well if your brad nail is going too far or not far enough. There is a buckle switch on top for fishing out jammed nails. The quick connect adapter is crucial for easy operation and to quickly release the air in order to make adjustments. I ordered Carpenter’s nail gun in preparation to replace all of the trim in my main living area. This tool is going to make that big job a lot quicker and easier! The handle is comfortable and the gun itself is lightweight enough that I will be able to use over my head for the crown molding without worrying about my noodle arms giving out. The going rate is $50 and that value is fantastic for the quality you get in this air tool! This is not a cheap plastic tool found at the big box stores. I cannot say enough good things as the brad nailer works exactly as advertised.

*Update* After several light uses the nailer has broken. The metal rod/plate that drives the nails snapped in two. I don’t recommend this nailer. As I write this the nailer is selling for $49, which isn't bad for it's performance. As you'll see in the pictures, there were several times it failed to completely sink the brad nails, but on subsequent nails would sink the nails just fine (without any adjustments to the nailer, compressor, etc.). Another reason I've knocked off a star - it didn't come with any oil as advertised in the product pictures. Luckily I have another nailer/oil for that nailer, so I was able to use that nailer's oil. Also, I'm pretty sure the nailer I got was used - the stickers on the nailer looked like they'd been ripped off and then taped back on. Not great for something that's supposed to be factory-new. Those things aside, it seems to be of reasonable quality - it feels solid, doesn't leak air, is easy to load, and hasn't jammed on me yet. If it had included oil and looked new, it'd be a solid 4 stars. Lacking those two things and failing to sink nails properly, it's a solid 3 to 3.5 at its regular price of $79.

This Carpenter CF50 18 Gauge Brad Nailer is a really good if not amazing nail gun. One thing that really sets it apart from competitive brands is the over all quality of the grip and handle. This combined with the high end and pro grade build quality makes it look, feel and perform like a true professional tool. I like that about it. The magazine loads very easily with standard over the counter brad nails and it shoot through them with ease. It is also a really good value for the price point. It has everything that one could ask for in a pro-grade tool and I highly recommend it.

This is a pretty good brad nailer that works quite well for the most part. I just used it to install new baseboards in several rooms around my house and overall had no major problems with it. The nailer is comfortable to hold in the hand, easy to maneuver with the pre-installed swivel hose connector, easy to load, and easy to fine tune adjust the nail depth setting.I never had any issues using the nailer in single firing mode (i.e. pull the trigger for each nail). The only operational issue I had with the nailer was went I tested the gun in repetitive/contact firing mode (i.e. hold the trigger down and the gun auto-fires when you contact the wood with the tip). In this setting, I had a few nails that did not go in properly and one that broke halfway through installation. It's possible that these issues were the result of operator error on my part since I never use a nail gun in this manner and always use it in single shot mode. The other minor complaints I have about this nail gun are the fact that the listing and box make a big deal out of having a bottle of air tool oil included with the unit and mine came with no oil. Not a problem for me as I have my own supply but still shows a lack of quality control in packaging. Lastly, and the bigger issue for me, is that at this tool price point of almost $100 I consider including a plastic molded storage case is a requirement for any brand. The fact that this nail gun only comes in a carboard box with no long term storage solution provided is the main reason I deducted a star.

We used this to shoot a few hundred 2 inch, 18 gauge brads. It drove every one perfectly. There was not even a single misfire. This tool is solid and well built. It is comfortable to use. The trigger is great. Remember to oil your air tool daily before using with a good quality air tool oil. Always wear proper eye protection. This is a winner.

I'm really happy with this nailer. It feels much more comfortable to hold than some and is not overly tiring to use. It has all the functions I expect, such as nail depth, and is weighted nicely. Build quality is good for the price, too. For a budget nailer, it exceeded my expectations.
