This pump has an interesting design. The hose has a 360 degree swivel, which is cool, as it allows connecting to awkwardly angled valves while still being able to see the gauge easily in an normal upright position. The actual chuck, which affixes to the valve, is a 2 stage setup. First you tighten the knurled silver knob to affix the chuck to the external threading on the Shrader valve. The second stage is you tighten the smaller red knob on the pump chuck to depress the inner pin on the valve and open the system. That type of 2-stage method is very reliable and ensures little to no pressure loss as you connect/disconnect the pump. However, it does introduce a little bit of complexity that a Fox brand or some other brand pumps don't have. I personally love this pump, as it allows me to control every stage of the sealing and circuit opening, but it requires just a little more thought than some of the other systems. On the flip side, this user control allows you to to adjust for other brands of shocks/forks with different valve pin depths, or even main brand shocks with out of spec valve pin depths, which is a very worthwhile tradeoff in my book. I have a Fox pump that automatically seals and then depresses the pin, and it works great...on Fox shocks! If, like me, you either have a variety of brands in your fleet, or you find yourself frequently servicing friends and relatives bikes, then you may need compatibility with a maximum number of brands air valves. In that case, this pump is the way to go! Don't risk getting caught out without a inflation device! If I had to pick a shortcoming, it would be gauge resolution. This gauge goes to 300psi, which is great for inflating some rear shocks, particularly with heavier riders. But for forks, which nearly always use well under 100psi, the resolution is a little low. There are tic marks every 10psi, but when it comes to knowing if you have 54psi or 57psi, for example, you are left making your best estimation. For finicky riders, a few PSI in a fork can make a big difference in ride feel, and so it can be nice to get a little higher resolution for lower pressure applications. On analog gauges that would generally mean though that you wouldn't have the capacity to go to 300psi, so you need to pick what tradeoff makes the most sense for you. Going for a digital gauge will potentially allow you to have the best of both worlds, but then you are often looking at an increase in price, so its up to you to weigh the pros/cons. For a do it all analog gauged model, this one really is a great value!

I wanted to make sure my mountain bike was set up correctly for my weight without having to keep borrowing pumps from friends. This pump is the perfect fit. It’s easy to use, and the pressure gauge is a great size, making it simple to see exactly where the pressure is at. I am pleased to add this tool to my kit.

I finally got a high end mountain bike with full suspension and I wanted to make sure it was properly set up for my weight. The pump is small enough to fit in the little backpack I wear, so I can keep all my gear with me on long rides. It's easy to use and has a good sized pressure gauge that makes it easy to see how much you have.

I recently upgraded to a full-sus mountain bike; something I've never had. I've always ridden hard tails but they are a little more unforgiving the older I get. With the extra suspension comes significantly more maintenance and they need for more tools. Though I have no problems getting the right tools for the job, I don't believe the answer is always the more expensive blue brand. I don't own a shop and I don't need to spend a ton of money on tools. This pump is fairly well designed. The chuck attaches using two steps. First, you tighten onto the valve, then depress the inner pin on the valve. This helps prevent air leaking from the system while connecting and disconnecting.I don't have much to compare it to since I've only serviced shocks and suspension forks once or twice but it's sufficient in getting the necessary amount of pressure into the shock. As a bonus, it's small enough to stuff in the pocket of my jersey or hydro pack if needing to add air on the fly - to the shock or even a tire. Save a little cash and give this pump a try.

Really nice features such as the ability to fold it for storage. Also, the red cap unscrews so you can screw the hose onto your shock valve without releasing any air pressure, then you engage pressure by tightening the red cap. Also, the tool folds in half for storage. That's a really nice touch as long as I don't eventually end up with a leak at that 90 degree swivel point. The pump action is perfect, and it's easy to control the pressure you're adding without overdoing it. There is also a button for easily releasing pressure from the shock. Overall, this is just a superb design. 5 stars all the way.

This shock pump is compact, easy to carry, and gets the job done without breaking the bank. The dual-stage valve system helps minimize air loss, which is great, but it does take an extra step to use. The swivel hose is nice for awkward valve placements, and it works well for both forks and rear shocks. The gauge resolution could be better for fine-tuning lower pressures. It’s not fancy, but for the price, it’s a good tool to have in your pack. Just don’t expect pinpoint accuracy.

Once you figure out how to use the pump it works well. Just needed to come back here on Amazon to read the instructions and some of the reviews. The videos are very helpful too.
