Nice hammer I didn't get a chance to give it a good workout on the dig we went on but it felt balanced. I think it would hold out to a good banging. The reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because I didn't get to use it much and I couldn't judge how it would hold up on a good workout.

Cheap cast steel hammer, rough cast at that. Finished okay, feels decent but it is cast so it’s not going to be a high quality tool. U.S designed, Chinese produced… meaning cheap! The packaging was atrocious! Why put a hammer in a thin flat rate envelope? It could have easily have been stolen, or fell out of the packaging. If you’re new to geology or prospecting this may be an okay hammer, but if you’re serious about it buy a forged hammer and be done with it.
