I like it. However, I have to use these with a thimble as the needles are very short. I loaded the cheapest, "junkiest", most flimsy thread onto it and was able to thread the needle. I held the thread, looped across and pulled it tightly across my left thumb and forefinger. Then I pushed the needle down onto the thread and it loaded well onto the needle, entering the first hole. It stayed put through my sewing on of a button, through thick material. The button was set directly over a seam. HOWEVER, I first had to take the gold-colored eye part of the needle and gently pull on both sides of it to open up the eye a little; not enough to see visible separation (as that would defy the purposes of purchasing this) but to loosen the excess tension in the two sides which frame the eye of the needle; resulting in a smooth gliding of the thread onto the needle. I hope that this helps someone in their search for reasonable quality, self-threading needles. As a reference point, I have used self-threading needles in the past and I never had to work on them to loosen them, before using but, seeing that everything is made cheaply and abroad these days, what can you expect?

I am getting old and my eyesight isn’t great but these needles make easy to thread and sew like i used too. Very happy with these and highly recommend them.

My good quality thread does not like these needles. Most often breaks when threading thru the groove. Or, pulls up and out of the bottom opening and snags on the slotted part. Had planned to use them to bury threads when quilting but no luck. Hard fail.

I bought these needles to help me bury threads while quilting. At the beginning (several quilts worth) I was very frustrated. I tied my knot, held my thread tails and tried to slide the needle down to load the needle. I shredded so much thread and was about ready to toss all of them. Then ...PRO TIP: I thought to myself in one last ditch effort on today's quilt ... What if I hold the thread tails and slide the needle UP the thread tails? Well, what happens? They just pop into the needle and you're good to go. So, do not try to load your thread tails by running the needle down the tails, RUN THE NEEDLE UP THE THREAD TAILS and you, too, can have success.I gave the ease of use only 4 starts because I think including that little gem would be helpful to many people.
