We have some dogs that have littermate syndrome, so they try to fight a lot. The sticks are a good deterrent for them. We have them all over the house and when they see the sticks the behave. We've never HIT them with the sticks, but we have hit the sticks on the couch or our hands for a warning. They are like padded PVC sticks. I like that they also come with holders you can use to hand them up around. They have not gotten into a fight since we got the sticks, but if they did, the sticks could be useful to get in-between them.

These escrima sticks are very adaptable for use in increasing shoulder, wrist and hand dexterity. Good value for the money.
